Regrettably, there is no wheelchair access to the museum, but a visual guide is available at Abingdon Information Centre in Abbey Close.

Officially reopened following the completion of the Heritage Lottery funded refurbishment of the Grade I Listed building by H.R.H. The Duke of Gloucester KG GCVO on 8th March 2013.

14 cases of zoological exhibits
5 human skeletons found when excavating the basement of a local inn

In addition, the museum stores a selection of craft from the former Southern Arts Collection, donated to the County in 1998. This comprises 90 pieces including work by Kate Malone, Alan Caiger-Smith, Wendy Ramshaw, Jim Partridge and Lubna Chowdhary.

The items on display include: The Monk's Map, a 16th-century map of the River Thames around Abingdon.

A reproduction of the Abingdon Sword, a late Anglo-Saxon iron sword and hilt of the late 9th or early 10th century (original held by the Asmolean Museum).

The last MGB car off the production line at Abingdon.

Bishop's Palace - The town of Witney owes its origin to the Bishop of Winchester. The Bishop's Palace site situated near to the Church on Church Green is one of 24 luxurious residencies in the diocese and dates from the 12th century. MAP

The archaeological remains of the great hall and other features are exposed under a modern roof and were discovered in the early 1980s.

There is a small interpretation centre with a model of the Palace at the height of its importance.

Faringdon Woodland (Home of Faringdon Folly Tower) - Off - Stanford Road, Faringdon, Oxfordshire.

Nearest postcode is SN77AQ - The footpath starts from the Stanford Road.

Free Entry woodland - Folly woodland is an always open place for people to go, with a number of things to please children. Great views too.

Faringdon Clump - Historic site of one of five (Oliver) Cromwell's Batteries.

A charming 4 acre, circular woodland of splendid Scots Pine and broadleaf trees, some more than 200 years old.

Seek out the 24 black birds and giant willow pie, Cromwell’s cannon, the fairly useless bridge and more. Please do not feed the giraffes!!

10 minutes walk from Faringdon’s historic market place where refreshments are available, and 2 hours Free parking.

Faringdon Folly Tower

Entry to the folly on occasions Apr to Oct (see website) is chargeable (accompanied Under 11s Free) - This unique unusual 100ft tower is Faringdon’s icon and the last major folly to be built in England sits on Folly Hill, within the woodland.
