Completed around 1638, Inigo Jones's 'house of delight' introduced England
to the beauties of Palladian architecture. Once a richly furnished summer villa
for Queen Henrietta Maria, wife of Charles I, it is now an elegant setting for
fine art and entertaining and displays the history of Greenwich in paintings
and changing displays from the Museum's world-class art collection.

shows.
Built for the purpose of finding longitude at sea, the Royal Observatory is
home of Greenwich Mean Time and the famous Prime Meridian of the World - Longitude
0° 0' 0". Sir Christopher Wren's Royal Observatory is also a museum
of time and astronomy. The Royal Observatory also houses London's only public
planetarium, which provides a magnificent introduction to the mysteries and wonders
of the night sky.

The State Rooms - Today the State Rooms are used extensively by The Queen
and Members of the Royal Family to receive and entertain their guests on State,
ceremonial and official occasions. During August and September when The Queen
makes her annual visit to Scotland, the Palace's nineteen state rooms are open
to visitors.
The Queen's Gallery - At Buckingham Palace is a
permanent space dedicated to changing exhibitions of items from the Royal Collection,
the wide-ranging collection of art and treasures held in trust by The Queen for
the Nation.
The Royal Mews - One of the finest working stables in existence, the Royal
Mews at Buckingham Palace provides a unique insight into the department of the
Royal Household that provides transport by road for The Queen and other members
of the Royal Family. The Royal Mews houses the State vehicles, both horse-drawn
carriages and motor cars, used for coronations, State Visits, royal weddings,
the State Opening of Parliament and official engagements. Visitors can see the
Gold State Coach which was last used during The Queen's Golden Jubilee in 2002
to carry Her Majesty and Prince Philip to the Service of Thanksgiving at St Paul's
Cathedral.
