Gorgie City Farm, 51 Gorgie Road,

Great opportunity for children to meet a variety of animals, even cuddle a snake.

This city-based farm is home to a wide range of livestock and pets such as tortoises and chinchillas.

There’s a café and play park, and a shop selling the farm’s own fresh produce.

Other facilities include a workshop, wildlife garden, farm tractors and an interpretation centre, plus a full programme of supervised activities for children and adults.

Completely Free - They just request a sensible donation.

No good parking at the farm. On Sat and Sun the council office next door offers Free parking for up to 2 hrs. During the week bus is best.

Housed in the late 16th century Canongate Tollbooth, The People's Story museum uses oral history, reminiscence, and written sources to tell the story of the lives, work and leisure of the ordinary people of Edinburgh, from the last 100 years or so.

Free Entry Edinburgh The museum is filled with the sounds of Edinburgh together with sights and smells of the past. Exhibits include: a prison cell, town crier, reform parade, cooper's workshop, Scottish fishwife, a house servant at work, dressmaker, 1940s kitchen, a wash-house, typical pub and tea room. Reconstructions are acompanied by displays of photographs, objects and artifacts.
