Free Days Out in County Fingal, ROI

Ardgillan Castle, Balbriggan, Co. Fingal

Ardgillan Castle is a large castellated country house and gardens on County Fingal's east coast.

Ardgillan Castle is located north of Dublin City just outside the town of Balbriggan. The grounds include Herb Garden, Ornamental Garden and the Rose Gardens and large open areas providing beautiful outdoor walks for the whole family.

Many of the walks are through sheltered forest paths providing great adventure for kids. Ardgillan castle stands on elevated coastline commanding magnificent views of the Irish Sea.

The large outdoor children's playground added in 2006 has great views over Dublin Bay.

In high summer a second coffee shop is open beside the Walled Garden.

Lusk Heritage Centre, Lusk, Co. Fingal (Dublin)

Lusk Heritage Centre, Lusk, Co. Fingal

Lusk Heritage Centre in the centre of Lusk Village comprises of a 9th century round tower, a medieval belfry and a 19th century church. They form a unit, although they were built over a period of almost a thousand years. The belfry now houses an exhibition on Lusk and medieval churches of North County Dublin and also the magnificent 16th century effigy tomb of Sir Christopher Barnewall and his wife Marion Sharl.
